I am a lover of stories and at heart, I think photography is the purest form of storytelling. Observing and photographing my life and the lives of others has opened so much in understanding the nature of love and relationships. There is something so satisfying about being able to tell a story and capture emotion and love and beauty. It's such a great privilege to be able to photograph the monumental events and the everyday lives of others.

This is my first client session of its kind.

There were a few reasons that it was unusual for me.  First of all, the location had to be changed last minute due to an unexpected parade route through the one we had planned (who knew Denver has a GIANT St. Patrick’s Day parade in front of Union Station?) Luckily, Jamie and Reiner were just fine with it.

I was thrilled by our happy accident of having to change locations. The location we chose was much more intimate than downtown and Union Station and afterwards, we went to Broadway for ice cream at Sweet Action.

The second “first”  was how I photographed the session.  It was the first time I used a mix of digital and medium format film.

I can’t even express how exciting it was to get back the scans (after the film was developed) and see the results.

The session itself was a blast.  It was the first time Jamie and Reiner had been officially photographed as a couple and they were a little trepidatious about what to do.  Once we got started, talking and laughing, discovering fun little areas in the arts district, they were naturals.  I’m very much looking forward to photographing their wedding in September.
